A simple solution to world hunger

It costs just HKD195 to feed a child for a whole school year, so even the smallest amounts can have a huge impact.

Everyone can play a part in helping us reach the next child waiting for Mary’s Meals by raising funds for our work.

Organise a fundraiser!

Less than HK$200 feeds a child at school. For a whole year!

Whether collaborating with a group of friends or working towards a personal goal, it’s easy to raise money for a cause you believe in. All efforts, big and small, have an impact. So go on, start your own fundraiser and be a part of the miracle that is Mary’s Meals!

It just takes a few steps:

  1. Choose your challenge or event: a 5k run? a marathon? a swim gala at your school or club? a dinner / auction / quiz night / a concert or a bake sale at your school or office? donations for an auspicious birthday? See below for more ideas…
  2. Set a fundraising target: Be ambitious! You’ll be surprised by how many people will support you and your cause.
  3. Create a fundraising page on Give Asia (www.give.asia):
    – Create or login to your account
    – Follow the steps to complete your page. Make your page URL short and simple so it is easy for donors to get to
    – Easy-to-follow set-up guide: >>> click here
    – Reminder: for large donations we STRONGLY RECOMMEND that you have donors send a cheque or make a bank transfer. This saves on processing fees. Details on how to pay direct are at this LINK
  4. Spread the word: Reach out to your network and let them know the great thing you’re up to, and don’t be shy about reminders!

More tips for success:

  • Share why this cause is meaningful to you in your campaign story and messages.
  • Don’t just rely on social media. Individual emails or text messages are most effective.
  • Provide regular updates to your donors. Use the updates function on your Give Asia page.

Still not sure what you could do? Check out these other tried-and-tested ideas:

Movie night at home

Having your friends round to watch a movie may not sound like a money-maker, but if you prepare some snacks and ask for donations on entry, you could be surprised how much you’ll raise. For some added glitz, you could decorate your living room like a cinema or have a costume theme based on your favourite movie.

Meals around the world

You could host a ‘Meals around the World’ event, whether it’s a buffet at school or in your workplace, or a dinner party at home. Lay on some international dishes and invite your guests to try them in return for a donation.

Give it up for Mary’s Meals

Why not use Mary’s Meals as your inspiration to kick a bad habit? Whatever you would usually spend on your vice can quickly add up, so whatever it is, give it up for Mary’s Meals!

Bakes and shakes

Everyone loves a cake sale. Succulent sponges and chocolate tray bakes are difficult to turn down, but why not offer a healthy choice by selling fruit shakes too? Get the aprons on, sleeves up – and watch the donations roll in!

Dress down, clean up

Suggest a casual clothes day at your school or workplace, charging a donation from everyone for the privilege. Or why not set a dress down theme and ask everyone to wear Mary’s Meals blue for the day?
Either way, you’ll be surprised how many hungry children your efforts will help.
